Navigating New Challenges: My First 90 Days as an Engineering Manager at Safe Security

By Shivam Saxena

Three months into my journey at Safe Security, I can confidently say that it’s been one of my career's most exhilarating and rewarding experiences.

Safe Security’s engineering culture is all about ownership—from coding and architecting to project planning and flawless execution. What thrills me the most is the chance to work on core products that directly drive revenue. Scaling these products to meet the complex demands of modern cybersecurity is a challenge that fuels my passion every day. We’re talking about building robust architectures that support millions of assets while keeping things agile for our fast-paced customers.

The heart of our work? Integrations. They’re the glue that holds our platform together, seamlessly connecting with tools and services that our customers rely on. The challenge of scaling integrations across diverse environments with unique requirements is a constant evolution. But that’s where the excitement lies—crafting scalable, flexible solutions that handle a tidal wave of data without skipping a beat.

I’ve been hands-on, architecting integrations that optimize performance and ensure real-time, high-throughput environments where customers process thousands of signals per minute. Each improvement we make here isn’t just a technical win—it directly impacts customer satisfaction and business growth.

The Future: Building a Game-Changing iPaaS

What’s got me even more pumped is the Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) I’m developing with the team. We’re talking about building an activity-based platform that allows anyone to create integrations without touching a single line of code! This project is the future-proof, flexible solution that will redefine how we approach integration and automation, and I’m thrilled to be a part of something that could revolutionize our space.

A Hands-On Culture of Innovation

At Safe, the culture of ownership means there is no division between strategy and execution. Whether troubleshooting a tricky API issue or mapping out next-gen product architecture, I’m in the thick of it. This hands-on involvement and our fast feedback loops keep us agile and aligned with our customers’ evolving needs.

What’s Next?

Reflecting on these first three months, it’s clear that Safe Security is a place where engineers are empowered to make a real impact. The excitement grows as we push forward with the iPaaS initiative and continue scaling our core products. The work we do here matters—it’s driving revenue, shaping the future of cybersecurity, and creating endless opportunities for innovation. I couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.
